Welcome to the cows at Almvik!

At Almvik Farm, the Hare Krishna movement has since 1981 cared for cows according to the traditional Vedic principle of cow protection. Cow protection means looking after cows in the best possible way so that they thrive throughout their lives.

We never send our cows to slaughter, but instead let them retire on the day they no longer produce milk or can perform work. We never sell any of our cows or oxen.

We hand-milk the cows and ensure that the calves receive milk from their mothers for at least 6–12 months. Our cows and oxen also have the opportunity for outdoor time and fresh air year round.

We hope that through this website we will inspire our visitors to support Almvik's cow protection and increase understanding of the necessity of protecting cows.
